That is a statement that we've really taken to heart lately at Crossfire Masters Commission. The Gospel is the story of Christ's love for us, of how he sacrificed his life for us in what he called the greatest love a man can have (John 15:13). So then, the way we should preach the Gospel without words is by showing people the love of Christ through random acts of kindness. That is exactly what we've decided to do. It's been really hot out lately. So, for the past couple weeks we've been down at the bus stops giving water out freely and when people ask tell them about the water Jesus gives (John 4:13-15). To tell you the truth, I have seen more fruitfulness come from this small gesture of love than from any time spent passing out fliers or going around inviting people to church. There is something that speaks to people on a different level than words when you take the time to show them you care. When you preach the gospel without words people hear it much more easily. Monday, July 27, 2009On staff nowIt is truly incredible how time goes by without you really even noticing it. It really seems like just a little while ago I was getting ready to start my first year at Crossfire Masters Commission, moving away from home for the first time, about to follow through with the craziest idea I'd ever set my mind on. But it wasn't just a little while ago. I just graduated my third year of Masters Commission and, still wondering how sane the idea is, am becoming a part of the staff. I had a meeting this morning with the rest of the staff (it's weird saying it that way) and we just spent some time casting vision for next year and discussing some ideas. I have to tell you I am really exited for what this year is going to bring. Though I'm still sad to see one year end, there is something incredible about the opportunity to pour into more lives and to continue moving your ministry forward. I'm excited to be able to teach classes to the students this year (something that I've always wanted to do), and to further develop the elements of discipleship that we started using this last year. But there is more to my excitement than what God is doing in our program and what He is going to do in our students. I'm also excited for the growth God is going to bring about in me. I'm looking forward to the day that God puts me in the place to start another Masters Commission. I'm also looking forward to being involved in all the different aspects of our ministry this year, learning all the ins and outs of what makes the Masters Commission year happen. I know that I'll continue to learn and grow until the day I die, whether I'm about to become a first year student or I'm a new staff member, that is something that I've learned over the last three years and it's something that I hope I will be able to instill in all my students for the coming year and the years to follow.
